I’ve been a film lover for as long as I can remember – practically since I could hold my head up and stare at a screen. When I was a baby, my mum even caught me on video completely ignoring the camera, totally transfixed by Aladdin on VCR. That’s when my family started calling me “square-eyes.” So much of my identity has been shaped by the films that moved me and the characters I’ve felt represented by. I usually have way more to say about them than the friends or family I see movies with – so I decided to start creating my own film reviews!
Materialists

This was like watching a really good wattpad story with a high budget. Beautiful cinematography, tasteful, styling, an engaging subplot and take on risks and rewards of modern dating. My only critique was Dakota Johnson performance. Why was a side character literally giving an Oscar worthy performance?! Dakota’s acting just always falls flat for me.

Ugh haunting, enchanting, and super freaky… What more could I ask for??? Let me hold your hand when I say I LOVED the cinematography – from the grey scale night scenes to just general shadow imagery, there were so many jaw drop moments for me personally. Bill buddy you never disappoint me… Lily Rose Depp I am slowly becoming aware of your game… This is gonna be on my mind for awhile just saying.
Wicked

Absolute love letter to the original broadway production, they weren’t lying when they said they were taking good care of these characters. Set and costume design chef’s kiss, if Ariana and Cynthia don’t receive Oscar’s, production should. Vocals were everything, literally a whole new side of Ariana, and Cynthia proves time and time again that she is truly one of the greatest vocalists of our time. I couldn’t help but cry every time their eyes got glossy and it truly brought me back to seeing wicked for the first time when I was eight and the goosebumps that came with it. Wake me up when part two premieres!
